Look For Less: No Nonsense Knockoffs

There was time when the idea of a knockoff sent shivers down my spine. And even though I would occasionally cave in and buy one I had one cardinal rule. No 'leather'. Fake leather has come a long way since then and with the patten trend thats been sticking around it's even easier to fool the eye.

Here are a few of my knock off tips. Never buy signature bags. These are the Vuitton initial bags or the coach bags with the big 'C's' all over them. These bags have clear tells. And not that you're necessarily trying to fool anyone but why scream it? For instance the Coach knockoff's have a cleff on the C which makes it look more like a G. Why bother?  Avoid brown leather. It's not always the case, but most brown leathers look the most fake b/c the colour is never quite right. And avoid straight smooth leather. Which is great now a days b/c quilting and texturing is so in. Smooth leather is like a silk dress. There is no wear to hide.

So where can you go for one stop knock off shopping? Anyknockoff.com. I've been buying bags from here since 2001. There are over 700 bags. 700!! And the quality and price are everything the Look For Less gal looks for. The site also carries accessories like sunglasses and jewelry. And it's always priced right.

Burberry Pre-Fall 2008

Christopher Bailey’s Burberry collections are almost always built around the brand’s signature outerwear, and pre-fall was no exception. This time, his concept was couture: Coats were ruched, beaded, piped with patent leather, and otherwise manipulated into very special objects indeed. Underneath, there was a loosened-up silhouette: still fitted at the top, but fuller at the bottom.

Missoni Pre-Fall 08'

Inspired by the mod sixties and everyone's favorite TV career woman, Mary Tyler Moore, Angela Missoni's pre-fall collection swung with A-line color-blocked dresses, space-dyed knits, and plaid skirtsuits that were spared from looking vintage by their boxy, modern cuts. An ocher shearling jacket paired with a thigh-high mini and elbow-length gloves was a standout.
