LAUNCHING A NEW SERIES OF RE-ISSUES AND RARITIES,
KICKERS AND OKI-NI PRESENT THE ORIGINAL ‘LEGEND’ BOOT
Spring/Summer ’07 sees the iconic Kickers label
collaborating with design innovators oki-ni on an exciting new capsule
collection based on the first boot ever produced by Kickers in 1970, the
‘Legend’ boot. The exclusive oki-ni/Kickers ‘Legend’ collection consists of
four colours; tan, white, navy and brown. Each boot has the classic Kickers
detailing, complimented with the signature oki-ni orange on the mid-sole, heel,
florette, laces and also on the trademark red-left-foot tab, the first time
this detail has ever been changed in the brands 31 year history.
Like the original, the boot is
constructed from natural washable nubuck leather with a crepe sole. Washable
really does mean just that, first seen on the 70’s boot, the Legend’s florette
states ‘lavable a l’eau et en savon’ – washable with soap and water. Each boot
comes with its own ‘wash bag’, the owner can create different washes: laundered
inside the wash bag, the boots will slowly develop a loved and lived in look.
Washed without the protection of the bag, the steel drum of a washing machine
will speed this process up or, for a really distressed look, a drop of bleach
can be added to the water. The shoes are supplied with a suede brush to restore
the nap of the leather once dried. These personalisation techniques allow the
wearer to make these rare boots even more unique.
