Mary Katrantzou launched her label in 2009 but the digital print illusions and colourful trompe l’oeil have given it a look that’s instantly recognisable and utterly unique and has made the young Greek designer the talk of London.
As the daughter of interior and textile designers, Athens native Mary Katrantzou was given to creativity from the start. Her early appreciation of applied design led her to study architecture at RISD, but her eye soon turned to textiles and womenswear, and she began designing clothing and jewelry that played with visual perception and perspective. In 2009, the Mary Katrantzou collection debuted at London Fashion Week, and ever since, the label’s rise to fame has been studded with awards and recognition for its artistic ingenuity and exquisite modern aesthetic.
